things i'm in love with

crazy town.
need i saw more?
ok. i'll say more.
it's been a crazy week. crazy month. crazy everything. days off all over the place impacting my schedule to a degree that i feel all over the place. and it has me seeking inspiration - something to settle it all. so i've found art in all corners of the internet. to soothe and inspire.
so, things i'm in love with this week.
(spoiler alert: it's almost all art).
ART GIFS?!?! my life is so much better after having discovered this whole new world. love these from chris harnan.

this beautiful video and photos from lou & grey's lookbook. the colours and the mood, and the music, and the everything. i'm swooning.

watercolours by satsuki shibuya. the most beautiful.

photography by coral amiga, including this beautiful series of a trip around bulgaria.

happy weekending everyone!

things i'm in love with

after a(n extra) long weekend at wanderlust whistler, and a few crazy weeks with work, and home, and lots of things happening with friends, and all of those things that get in the way of luxury time - what i call those moments in the day we get to spend alone, doing our own thing - i've succumbed to a summer cold. after a quick haircut (which - as i strongly feared, makes me look older than i am), and a quick peruse around my fave shop in vancouver, i finally headed home.... admitting to myself i needed to be in bed as much as possible.
and although you'd think bed would provide ample time for internet wandering, i spent most of it eating soup, blowing my nose, watching archer, and just feeling a bit sorry for myself.
so, without further adeui, things i'm in love with this week. (other than kleenex, soup, archer, and feeling a bit sorry for myself).

outrageous beauty in painting form, by meghan howland

haunting photography - reminiscent of the virgin suicides - by hannah kristinametz.

this quirky and weirdly beautiful video by vance joy that reminds me so much of a wes anderson film.

that's it for this week. oy vey. have a good one.

things i'm in love with

a week spent working hard to keep up, and make up for time spent in bed all last weekend. and, all the while, trying to desperately find a doctor in vancouver (shout out: if anyone has a great dr in vancouver accepting new patients, i NEED TO KNOW). this is the first time i've spent on the computer all week - and yet, i've been thinking about, and being sent links for some of the best stories, and inspirations all week. i've also been feeling like i need to kick things up a notch with colour and patterns in my day to day (prints on my walls and clothes alike), so i've been totally obsessed.

things i'm in love with this week
a little kaleidoscope type theme i'm on this week - colours, 70's style. can't get enough of it.
these awesome bouquets - a bit more personalized than the average flowers. i'm a big fan of bringing flowers wherever i go, and these top it all... how to personalize plants/flowers as gifts.

these amazing galaxy nails from cup of joe. i had a colleague ask recently, 'are your nails ALWAYS done?'.... and i had to nod. i don't know when i became that girl, but i love that polish totally cleans me up. i typically wear all black and grey and having lavendar nails (the current colour) helps me choose my accessories, as well as giving me the ability to throw my hair in a ponytail and still look put together. this galaxy look will be my next trip to the nail table.
elizabeth amento's art is totally inspiring me lately... i'm obsessed with each of her collage pieces. and everything she does seems to be perfect.

the MOST beautiful, nicole richie. i'm obsessed. totally obsessed. and my nails are the same colour as her hair currently. obvs soul twins. her spread in paper magazine is utterly and completely jaw-dropping.

(if anyone knows the source of this photo, please let me know! found here)

i've had the pleasure of working with deanna palkowski, and i'm always so amped to see people appreciating the cool ass chick she is. love this piece from garmentory on her.

that's all this week - hope everyone has an amazing weekend. enjoy the sun!

just makin' up words

in my family, we make up words like they're going out of style (i guess technically they are, but.... that's a different story). my dad even has his own language which his friends have dubbed 'chopenese' (with the nickname 'chop' you can really begin to have many things named after you).
needless to say, anyone who embraces made up words, is my hero. a lifetime of being mocked for words i truly thought existed causes some sensitivity. rinee shah is doing exactly what i would hope - embracing and illustrating words that people share with their families. giving ME more material. the made up words project. best.
